RentShield.io — Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between Rentid Inc ("Rentid," "we," "us," or "our") and the business entity registering for or using RentShield.io (the "Operator," "you," or "your"). RentShield.io and related dashboards, APIs, documents, and communications are together the "Platform."

By creating an account, clicking "I agree," or using the Platform, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

1. Parties and Roles

  • Technology Provider:

    Rentid Inc operates RentShield.io but is not an insurance carrier, agency, or broker.

  • Licensed Producer/Agency:

    Insurance placement services are provided by Rentid Property & Casualty, LLC ("Agency"), NPN 21220087; License # 3003140593.

  • Underwriters:

    Licensed insurers underwrite coverage; carrier details are disclosed on quotes, binders, and policies.

  • Platform vs. Policies:

    These Terms govern the Platform. Policies, declarations, and endorsements are governed separately by the underwriting carrier.

2. Eligibility and Obligations

You confirm that:

  • You are a U.S. business operating a lawful rental/mobility service.
  • You are an authorized representative (18+).
  • You will comply with laws (insurance, rental, tax, data privacy, FCRA/GLBA/DPPA).
  • You will obtain renter consents for submitted data.
  • Information provided is accurate and updated.

Operator Responsibilities for Coverage/Claims include maintaining:

  • Rental agreements for each policy.
  • Telematics data (where applicable).
  • Proof of off-rent coverage.
  • Driver vetting records.
  • Vehicle schedule (Year, Make, Model, VIN, GVW, ACV, garaging location).
  • Check-in/out procedures.
  • Garage safety details.
  • Mileage and rental day exposure data.

Failure to provide may result in denial of coverage or claims.

3. Platform Services

  • The Platform provides quoting, purchasing, and admin tools for on-rent coverage only.
  • No off-rent coverage is implied.
  • Availability, pricing, and eligibility are determined by underwriters.
  • Policy terms control coverage.

4. Accounts, Security, and Acceptable Use

  • You are responsible for account credentials.
  • Prohibited activities: unauthorized access, reverse engineering, scraping, malware, or competing service use.
  • Accounts may be suspended or terminated for violations.

5. Fees, Deposits, and Payments

Platform & Processing Fees (subject to change):

  • Policy Activation Fee: $10/vehicle (one-time)

The Policy Activation Fee is a technology fee charged by Rentid for access to policy information through the Platform. It is not an insurance premium and does not constitute a payment for coverage.

  • Ride Share Compliance Fee: $4/day (if applicable)
  • Transaction Fee: $2.99/transaction
  • Stripe Fees: 2.9% + $0.30/transaction

Deposit Requirements:

  • Maintain two valid payment methods, or maintain a deposit (amount at Rentid's discretion).
  • Deposits may be applied to balances owed.

Refundability:

  • Fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.
  • Unused premium days → credited (not refunded).

Payment Authorization:

  • Rentid may charge all fees automatically.
  • Failed payments may result in suspension, interest (1.5%/month), and collection costs.

Coverage Billing:

  • Coverage billed in 24-hour increments.
  • Example: Bound at 3:17 PM on April 2 → ends 3:16:59 PM on April 3. Extending to 3:17:00 PM triggers a new day.

6. Privacy and Data Use

  • Your use is subject to our Privacy Policy.
  • Operators are responsible for providing required notices and obtaining consents for any personal data submitted.
  • Information you enter into the Platform (including through quote request screens) will be used to generate quotes, bind coverage, administer policies, and provide related Platform services. By submitting information, you consent to its use for these purposes.
  • Do not upload sensitive data unrelated to rental/insurance.

7. Electronic Records and Signatures

  • Electronic records/signatures are legally binding.
  • Withdrawing consent may affect ability to obtain/manage coverage.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • Platform provided "as is."
  • Rentid Inc and Rentid P&C disclaim all warranties.
  • Coverage governed only by the Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

No liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Aggregate liability limited to the greater of:

  • Platform fees paid in last 12 months, or
  • $100.

10. Indemnification

Operators agree to indemnify Rentid Inc, Rentid P&C, affiliates, employees, and agents against claims, damages, and losses arising from:

  • Use of the Platform.
  • Rental operations.
  • Law or Terms violations.
  • Third-party claims related to vehicles/data.

11. Suspension and Termination

Grounds for suspension/termination:

  • Breaches of Terms.
  • Declined/reversed payments, chargebacks, non-payment.
  • Fraud, abusive activity, reputational/financial risks.
  • Investigations into misuse.

Consequences: Immediate voiding of coverage, forfeiture of deposits/credits, restriction of access.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • Governed by Florida law.
  • Disputes resolved by binding AAA arbitration in Miami-Dade County, FL.
  • No class actions, collective actions, or representative proceedings.

13. State-Specific Notices

California:

Complaints → Dept. of Consumer Affairs.

Texas:

Check policies for duplicate coverage; may not meet financial responsibility laws.

Other States:

Notices appear in quotes/policies.

14. Changes

  • Rentid may update Terms by posting revised versions.
  • Continued use = acceptance.
